Don Jr Torches Trump Admin ‘Traitor’ for Public Attack on Hegseth: ‘This Guy is Not America First’

What was officially described as a cleanup operation targeting security leaks has been characterized as a smokescreen for deeper turmoil by a recently departed insider.

Former Trump administration official John Ullyot, who stepped down from his Pentagon position last week, has publicly challenged Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s explanation for recent high-profile dismissals.

The situation escalated dramatically when Donald Trump Jr. weighed in on social media platform X, targeting Ullyot directly.

“This guy is not America First. I’ve been hearing for years that he works his ass off to subvert my father’s agenda. That ends today. He’s officially exiled from our movement,” the president’s son declared early Monday.

Trump Jr.’s involvement signals the administration’s heightened concern about what media outlets are dubbing “Signalgate.”

The Pentagon controversy has expanded to include allegations that Hegseth himself shared sensitive materials in group chats that included family members and his attorney.

The controversy began when Hegseth fired several top aides, including his former chief of staff Joe Kasper and advisor Dan Caldwell, citing “unauthorized disclosures” of classified information to media outlets.

Darin Selnick, the Pentagon’s deputy chief of staff, was also suspended and reportedly escorted from the building.

In a scathing Politico op-ed, Ullyot disputed the official narrative, claiming the firings were actually covering up “disarray” within the Defense Department.

“Hegseth’s team has developed a habit of spreading flat-out, easily debunked falsehoods anonymously about their colleagues on their way out the door,” Ullyot wrote.

Perhaps most damaging to Hegseth’s position, Ullyot alleged that despite initial threats to subject the dismissed officials to lie detector tests, “not one of the three has been given a lie detector test.”

He further claimed that “at least one of them has told former colleagues that investigators advised him he was about to be cleared officially of any wrongdoing.”

These developments come as the Defense Department faces multiple challenges.

The administration has been dealing with leaks about various sensitive matters, according to sources, including a purported plan to brief Elon Musk on potential military responses to a hypothetical Chinese attack.

While blasting Hegseth’s leadership, Ullyot did acknowledge positive efforts within the department to eliminate what he described as “woke” initiatives implemented during the previous administration.

He credited Hegseth’s team with identifying and removing “identity politics” elements from military training and hiring practices, as well as addressing lowered fitness standards.

The power struggle appears far from over. Ullyot’s op-ed concluded with what many interpret as a thinly veiled threat: “Given his record of holding prior Cabinet leaders accountable, many in the secretary’s own inner circle will applaud quietly if Trump chooses to do the same in short order at the top of the Defense Department.”

With prominent allies of both camps staking out their positions, the Pentagon infighting threatens to become a significant distraction for the administration as it approaches its first 100 days in office.

The conflict between Hegseth and his former associates shows no signs of cooling down, suggesting further revelations may be forthcoming.
