FSU Shooter’s Chilling Warning Before Attack Revealed

Deputy’s Son Unleashes Terror at FSU as Shooter’s Chilling Warning Before Attack Revealed: ‘I Destroy Kingdoms’

Phoenix Ikner, 20, has been identified as the gunman responsible for Thursday’s deadly shooting at Florida State University’s Tallahassee campus that left two people dead and six others hospitalized with varying injuries.

Authorities revealed that Ikner, the son of Leon County Sheriff’s Deputy Jessica Ikner, used one of his mother’s private handguns in the attack.

Sheriff McNeil confirmed during a Thursday press conference that the shooter had been “steeped in the Leon County Sheriff’s Office family” and had previously participated in the department’s youth training programs.

“He had access to one of her weapons, and that was one of the weapons that was found at the scene,” officials stated.

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell clarified that the weapon was previously used by Ikner’s mother for law enforcement duties but had become her private handgun, as deputies “are allowed to purchase the handgun they used prior.”

A disturbing social media post by Ikner has emerged, quoting a Biblical passage from Jeremiah: “You are my war club, my weapons for battle, with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms.”

The quote warns of an impending judgment day.

Ikner was a political science major who had recently commented on campus protests following the 2024 presidential election, according to his university magazine profile.

“These people are usually pretty entertaining, usually not for good reasons,” he stated.

“I think it’s a little too late, he’s [Trump] already going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20 and there’s not really much you can do unless you outright revolt, and I don’t think anyone wants that.”

The campus erupted into chaos Thursday afternoon as shots rang out.

One witness revealed they observed a college-aged man exit the student union with a handgun, while another reported hearing sounds resembling “automatic gunfire.”

Social media quickly filled with footage showing students fleeing, abandoned belongings scattered across campus lawns and terrified students hiding under desks.

Particularly chilling was video from inside a classroom where students cowered silently as someone pounded on the door yelling “open up.”

The Daily Mail reported that Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare confirmed treating six victims, with one in critical condition and the others in serious condition.

Police reported seizing several firearms, including a shotgun and pistol.

A gray sedan possibly linked to the shooting was also discovered with a weapon inside. Ikner, who was injured during the confrontation with authorities, remains in custody at a hospital.

This marks the second mass shooting incident at FSU Tallahassee.

The Daily Mail noted that in November 2014, an alumnus opened fire in the Strozier Library, shooting an employee and two students before being killed by officers.

In the immediate aftermath, officials conducted thorough room-by-room clearances of the main campus while the Student Union area remained an active crime scene.

The FBI joined local law enforcement in the investigation, with support from the Tallahassee Fire Department and a sheriff’s office helicopter surveying the area.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a statement expressing that his “prayers are with our FSU family,” while President Trump confirmed he had been “fully briefed” on the situation.

FSU Tallahassee, a public university with approximately 45,000 students located in Florida’s state capital, canceled all classes and events for the day. Officials later announced that while the threat had been neutralized and students could return to residence halls, they should avoid the Student Union area and not attempt to retrieve personal belongings from the crime scene.
