Breaking: Zelenskyy Issues Statement Post Trump-Vance-Zelenskyy Fight

In a sudden turn of events, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that he is ready to “work under President Trump’s strong leadership” following a heated dispute at the White House that resulted in a breakdown of negotiations and a pause in U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

In a post to X on Tuesday, Zelenskyy called for a truce in both the air and sea “immediately, if Russia will do the same.” His statement comes amid growing concerns over Ukraine’s ability to sustain its defenses without continued American support.

The shift in tone from the Ukrainian leader follows an explosive meeting at the White House last week, where he and Trump engaged in a tense conversation. As a result, Trump’s administration announced a freeze on all military aid to Ukraine, a move that has sent shockwaves through Kyiv and among its Western allies.

Following the aid suspension, senior British government sources expressed doubt about Zelenskyy’s ability to maintain Ukraine’s war effort without U.S. assistance. A senior UK official told The Times that Ukraine could “last a matter of months, maybe less” without a renewed supply of American weapons and financial aid, according to the Daily Mail.

Prior to Zelenskyy’s post, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Tuesday’s “Fox & Friends” that he had been “unwilling to talk about a real peace agreement,” further complicating negotiations and contributing to the suspension of aid.

In what appeared to be an effort to mend relations with Trump, Zelenskyy acknowledged in his post that their meeting “did not go the way it was supposed to be” and called it “regrettable.” He added, “It is time to make things right.”

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine does not want an “endless war” and is prepared to engage in negotiations to achieve a “lasting peace.” He outlined initial steps toward ending the conflict, including an immediate truce in aerial and naval warfare if Russia reciprocates.

He also suggested the release of prisoners as an early confidence-building measure.

“My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts,” Zelenskyy wrote. “We are ready to work fast to end the war.”

He reiterated Ukraine’s gratitude for previous U.S. military support, particularly Trump’s provision of Javelin anti-tank missiles, which played a crucial role in Ukraine’s early defense efforts.

Zelenskyy also expressed willingness to finalize a pending agreement with the U.S. on mineral resources and security cooperation, despite the failed negotiations at the White House.

“We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive,” he stated, emphasizing that Ukraine remains ready to sign the agreement “at any time and in any convenient format.”

Trump, meanwhile, hinted at a major announcement in a Truth Social post, writing, “Tomorrow night will be big.” He did not provide further details but later added, “The only President who gave none of Ukraine’s land to Putin’s Russia is President Donald J. Trump.”

“Remember that when the weak and ineffective Democrat’s [sic] criticize, and the Fake News gladly puts out anything they say!”
