Border Czar Homan Hints at Crackdown on ‘Leftist Groups’ Aiding Illegal Immigrants: ‘Watch and See What Happens’
Border czar Tom Homan raised eyebrows outside the White House on Tuesday when he hinted at possible federal action against “leftist groups” supporting illegal immigrants.
During an impromptu press exchange, a journalist from Gateway Pundit asked whether demonstrators advocating for illegal immigrants—often seen waving foreign flags—could face law enforcement action. Recently, protesters have taken to the streets in cities like Los Angeles, frequently carrying flags from Mexico and Central and South American nations while opposing the administration’s strict immigration policies, according to the Daily Mail.
“Sir, is there any plan to go to these leftist groups … and these protests across the nation where those likely illegal aliens are flying foreign flags to be rounded up?” the reporter asked.
Homan initially walked away before turning back to deliver a pointed response.
“Watch and see what happens,” he said, adding, “We’re working on that right now.”
Homan also expressed dissatisfaction with the current pace of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement. When asked if President Donald Trump was satisfied with ICE’s arrest rates, he responded bluntly, “I’m not.”

“If you look at the arrests in interior enforcement, it’s about three times higher than it was a year ago today. Three times higher is good, but I’m not satisfied,” he stated, according to the Daily Mail.
“There are more criminal aliens that need to be arrested—hundreds of thousands. Sanctuary cities are putting roadblocks up, we got leaks.”
The border czar emphasized that the administration intends to ramp up efforts, particularly in targeting illegal immigrants with criminal convictions.
“So, we need to increase the arrests of illegal aliens, especially those with criminal convictions,” said Homan. “So, we’re going to continue.”
“So, three times higher is good. The numbers are good.”
“For me, not good enough,” he continued. “We’ve got to get more.”
Beyond ICE enforcement, Homan also addressed a separate but related concern: intelligence leaks within federal agencies. He has been collaborating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to intensify enforcement efforts.
He recently disclosed that investigators have identified a source responsible for leaking ICE enforcement operations, potentially compromising national security efforts.
Homan revealed that an ongoing investigation suggests an FBI official may be behind the intelligence leaks that have thwarted some ICE operations.
“I talked to the Deputy Attorney General all this weekend. They’ve opened up a criminal investigation, and they have promised that not only is this person gonna lose their job and lose their pension, they’re gonna go to jail, they’re gonna be criminally prosecuted, so we’re all over it,” he said.
The alleged leak has drawn criticism from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who also acknowledged the breach.
“The FBI is so corrupt,” Noem wrote on X. “We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.”
As federal officials investigate intelligence leaks, scrutiny has also turned toward activist organizations at the forefront of immigration protests. Some of the groups frequently seen protesting include Centro CSO, an illegal immigrant advocacy organization and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.
While many protests have been peaceful, some demonstrations have included acts of civil disobedience, such as blocking highways and setting fires.
Homan’s comments suggest that federal agencies may be examining whether such groups have engaged in unlawful activity while assisting illegal immigrants. With federal scrutiny increasing, it remains unclear whether these groups will face legal consequences or if their activities will continue unimpeded.
