Iconic Actor Addresses Trump’s LA Visit With Jab to Dems

Mel Gibson: Trump’s Visit to LA Was Like ‘Daddy Arriving And He’s Taking the Belt Off’

Legendary actor Mel Gibson, who has been outspoken in his support for President Trump, reacted humorously when discussing the President’s visit to fire-ravaged California. Trump arrived in the state after meeting with survivors of Hurricane Helene earlier in the day.

In California, he visited areas devastated by the Pacific Palisades fire, which destroyed over 23,000 acres of land. During the visit, Trump emphasized the need to clear debris swiftly, urging local officials to allow residents to take matters into their own hands, Trending Politics News reported.

“You should let them do it because by the time you hire contractors, it’s going to be two years,” Trump said, noting that many residents were willing to clean up the aftermath themselves.

Gibson, whose Malibu mansion was one of the properties completely destroyed in the wildfires, reacted to Trump’s approach with a humorous comparison, joking to Fox News host Sean Hannity that the President’s handling of the situation was like “daddy arriving and he’s taking his belt off.”

Gibson added that Trump’s assertive leadership would likely yield quick results in helping the state recover from the destruction.

Reflecting on his own personal loss, Gibson shared that the fire left him with no choice but to part with personal belongings accumulated over the years. “It’s obviously kind of devastating,” he said.

“You live there for a long time and you had all your stuff. You remember George Carlin talking about your stuff? Well, I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it’s all in cinders.”

The actor, who was in Austin recording a podcast with Joe Rogan when the fire broke out, recalled feeling uneasy during the interview as he wondered whether his home had been affected. Upon returning, Gibson confirmed his worst fears: his property had been completely incinerated.

Gibson also spoke about the fire’s impact on his neighbors. Despite the personal devastation, he expressed sympathy for the community members, calling them “a good bunch” who were now faced with the difficult task of rebuilding their lives.

“You meet people all the time who’ve lost their homes, and you talk and commiserate, and everyone’s putting on a brave face,” he said. “They’re a good bunch out here.”

In addition to his personal response to the fires, Gibson praised Trump’s leadership and the President’s recent announcement that he would be appointing him, along with Hollywood figures Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone, as Special Ambassadors to Hollywood.

This initiative is part of Trump’s broader effort to rejuvenate the American film industry, which has struggled with foreign competition.

“It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

With his appointment, Gibson will work alongside Voight and Stallone to help restore Hollywood, a place Trump has criticized for its liberal leanings. This announcement signals an ongoing relationship between Gibson and the administration, as he continues to support Trump’s efforts to reshape the American cultural landscape.
