Trump Eviscerates ‘Deranged’ Jack Smith After Finally Dropping 137-Page Report Into Election Interference Insisting President-Elect Would Have Been Convicted Had He Not Won 2024 Election
Former Special Counsel Jack Smith released his final 137-page report at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, maintaining his stance against President-elect Donald Trump while simultaneously admitting defeat in the face of constitutional barriers to prosecution.
Trump swiftly slammed the report in a fiery Truth Social post about 40 minutes later, calling Smith, once again, “deranged.”
Smith, who resigned on Sunday after completing two extensive criminal investigations, wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland expressing his belief that Trump would have been convicted of Conspiracy to Defraud the United States had he not secured victory in the recent presidential election.
Fox News reported that the timing of the release, mere days before Trump’s scheduled return to the White House on Jan. 20, has intensified scrutiny of the Department of Justice’s motives.
“The throughline of all of Mr. Trump’s criminal efforts was deceit – knowingly false claims of election fraud – and the evidence shows that Mr. Trump used these lies as a weapon to defeat a federal government function foundational to the United States’ democratic process,” the report states, as reported by Daily Mail.
Trump wasted no time responding to the report, taking to Truth Social in the early morning hours to slam what he characterized as a desperate final attempt by his opponents.
“Deranged Jack Smith was unable to successfully prosecute the Political Opponent of his ‘boss,’ Crooked Joe Biden, so he ends up writing yet another ‘Report’ based on information that the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED,” Trump posted.
The comprehensive document details prosecutors’ charging decisions in multiple high-profile cases, including the controversy surrounding classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and alleged conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.
Smith revealed that his office strategically decided against charging Trump with incitement, citing significant free speech concerns, and avoided pursuing insurrection charges due to unprecedented legal complications surrounding presidential immunity.
Daily Mail highlighted that one of the most striking revelations in Smith’s report addressed the challenges faced by prosecutors, particularly Trump’s use of social media.
“Mr. Trump’s resort to intimidation and harassment during the investigation was not new, as demonstrated by his actions during the charged conspiracies,” Smith wrote, explaining the motivation behind seeking a gag order to protect potential witnesses.
Daily Mail noted that Trump’s legal team, led by attorneys John Lauro and Todd Blanche, condemned the report as a “politically-motivated attack” and a “bad-faith crusade.”
They argue that Smith lacks the fundamental authority to produce such a report and claim it violates basic principles regarding the presumption of innocence.
The attorneys’ blistering letter to Garland characterized the draft report as the product of an “out-of-control private citizen unconstitutionally posing as a prosecutor.”
The Department of Justice announced that a redacted version of the classified documents case will be provided to congressional leadership from both parties for private review.
However, once Trump takes office, his own Justice Department will determine whether this portion of the report ever sees public release, adding another layer of intrigue to an already complex political saga.
The timing and content of the report have particularly irked Trump’s supporters, who view it as a last-ditch effort to undermine the incoming administration.
Daily Mail added that Trump himself addressed this during a recent press conference at Mar-a-Lago, where he praised Judge Aileen Cannon’s previous ruling that Smith’s special counsel appointment was unlawful.
