A convicted pedophile has filed a lawsuit against President-elect Donald Trump, accusing him of making “racist” remarks about “black jobs” during political speeches.
The lawsuit, which was filed on Oct. 28 and served to Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence, seeks $30,000 in emotional damages, alleging emotional damage was caused by Trump’s comments about illegal immigration and employment.
Anthony Sharp, a California inmate, is serving a 25-year-to-life sentence for possessing child pornography. His criminal history dates back to 1988, including charges of lewd acts with a child under 14, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Sharp’s lawsuit claims that Trump’s rhetoric was offensive to descendants of slaves and caused harm to Sharp and his family.
In his legal filing, the 58-year-old specifically referenced Trump’s comments to the National Association of Black Journalists, where Trump said, “Coming from the border are millions and millions of people who happen to be taking black jobs.”
Sharp described these remarks as “downright racist” and elaborated on his interpretation in the lawsuit.
“Immigrants are stealing black jobs, just to make that statement alone is racist as well as slanderous to me and my family because what is a black job? Well let me tell you what a black job is, really from a black point of view a black job is considered picking cotton – peanuts etc. for their slave masters,” he wrote, as noted by The Post Millennial.
The complaint also criticized Trump for his November 2022 dinner with Nick Fuentes, a conservative commentator widely criticized for alleged white nationalist views.
“I want to note I have nothing against Mr. Trump but when he starts talking racist or making harmful statements that hurt my family, that’s where I draw the line,” Sharp commented in the filing.
The phrase “black jobs” has previously drawn criticism. Former First Lady Michelle Obama addressed the issue during the Democratic National Convention, taking a jab at Trump by saying, “Who’s going to tell [Trump] that the job he’s currently seeking might be one of those black jobs?” in reference to the presidency.
Sharp’s lawsuit builds on this controversy, alleging that Trump’s language was harmful to the black community and perpetuated racial stereotypes.
Classified by the State of California as a “sexually violent predator,” Sharp has been denied parole and will not be eligible for another hearing until Sep. 2027. The Daily Mail described his two-page lawsuit as “rambling,” citing its focus on Trump’s past statements and actions Sharp deems racially offensive.
Despite the serious allegations, it remains unclear how Trump’s legal team will address the lawsuit. Palm Beach County court records indicate that deputies from the sheriff’s office served the lawsuit to a Trump employee at Mar-a-Lago on Dec. 2.
This lawsuit adds to Trump’s ongoing legal battles. On the same week Sharp’s lawsuit was served, Trump received an unconditional discharge for 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to alleged hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Trump’s legal team has not publicly commented on Sharp’s claims or filed any formal response in court.
