JonBenet Ramsey’s Dad Receives Letter Naming His Daughter’s Killer

JonBenet Ramsey’s Dad Receives Unsettling Letter Naming His Daughter’s Killer Just After Netflix Doc Premiere

A new potential lead in the ongoing case of JonBenet Ramsey’s brutal murder has emerged nearly 28 years after the six-year-old beauty pageant contestant was found dead in her family’s Boulder, Colorado home.

John Ramsey, the victim’s father, recently received a letter from a woman claiming her ex-husband could be responsible for the heinous crime.

The unsolved case, which has captivated the nation since December 26, 1996, has recently gained renewed attention through a Netflix documentary titled “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey.”

The film explores the widespread misinformation surrounding the investigation and the intense media scrutiny that followed the child’s murder.

John Ramsey immediately followed up on the anonymous tip but has yet to receive a response from the letter’s sender.

“Please, please call me,” the letter read, per Ramsey.

He shared with Daily Mail that he contacted the woman, but she did not answer her phone.

The potential lead has since been shared with a private investigator.

The murder occurred on Christmas night in 1996 when JonBenet was found brutally beaten and sexually assaulted in the basement of her family’s home.

Her mother, Patsy Ramsey, had initially called 911 to report a missing child and a ransom note. John Ramsey himself led the search that ultimately discovered his daughter’s body.

Throughout the years, the Ramsey family faced significant public suspicion, despite being officially cleared by the Boulder District Attorney in 2008.

John Ramsey has persistently demanded a thorough investigation, particularly advocating for advanced DNA techniques and genealogical database searches.

This is not the first potential break in the case.

Previous leads have proven false, including a notable instance involving John Mark Karr, who was extradited from Thailand after confessing to the murder, only to be conclusively eliminated through DNA testing.

Another intriguing incident involved an individual using the alias “David Cooper” who claimed to be the killer and attempted to negotiate a meeting with the Ramseys.

John Ramsey recalled that the caller mentioned details about the house that were not publicly known, but the interaction ultimately revealed itself as a potential scam.

Joe Berlinger, the director behind the new Netflix documentary, told the New York Post last month that he emphatically believes in the Ramsey family’s innocence.

The filmmaker argues that numerous potential suspects were incorrectly eliminated during the initial investigation due to faulty DNA analysis.

Berlinger believes an intruder is responsible for the murder, calling this scenario “much more plausible” than previous theories implicating the family.

Daily Mail highlighted that the Boulder Police Department has recently released its annual investigation update, emphasizing its commitment to solving the case.

Chief Steve Redfearn stated, “We are committed to following up on every lead and we are continuing to work with DNA experts and our law enforcement partners around the country until this tragic case is solved.”

At 81 years old, John Ramsey remains hopeful.

He believes solving the case is crucial not for himself, but for his children and grandchildren, who have lived under the shadow of this unresolved tragedy.
