28-Year-Old CBS News Anchor’s Cause of Death Revealed as Colleagues Mourn Sudden Loss: ‘We Are Devastated’
CBS affiliate KOLD News13 anchors revealed that their vibrant 28-year-old co-anchor Ana Orsini died from a brain aneurysm last week, leaving the Tucson newsroom and viewing community in shock.
Tyler Butler and Carsyn Currier struggled to maintain composure as they delivered the devastating news during Monday night’s broadcast.
“Our beloved friend and co-anchor Ana Orsini passed away unexpectedly last week,” Butler announced earlier this week, while supporting his emotional co-anchor.
Currier, overcome with grief, needed Butler’s assistance to continue the tribute.
“Ana had been here at 13 News since June of 2023,” she managed to say before tears overtook her. “We are devastated by this loss.”
The young journalist’s impact on her colleagues was evident as Butler described her infectious personality.
“What you saw with her on-air, the funny, crazy person she was – she was just like that off camera and more so,” he shared, holding Currier’s hand throughout the broadcast.
Orsini’s journalism career, though brief, left an indelible mark on multiple communities.
After graduating from Texas A&M University, she launched her career in 2018 in Lubbock, Texas.
She then spent three years at NewsWatch 12 before joining KOLD News13 in Tucson last summer, Daily Mail reported.
Colleagues took to social media to share their grief and memories.
Butler highlighted Orsini’s dedication to animal welfare and her trademark humor on Facebook, sharing her memorable catchphrase: “Let the women do the work!”
In a touching Instagram tribute, Currier referred to Orsini as the “Bratz doll to her Barbie doll,” writing, “Ana was unlike anyone I’ve ever met — beautiful, talented, hilarious, and completely genuine. She made everyone feel special, heard, and understood.”
“Waking up in the middle of the night to go to work is always challenging, but knowing I was going to work with Ana made it that much easier.”
‘Whether she was dancing around the set or making us all laugh, everyday with Ana was an adventure. Ana’s family was everything to her,” the lengthy Instagram post continued.
“She was a proud daughter, sister, and the best dog mom to her baby boy, Harley.”
‘… I love you forever, Ana … Rest in Peace, sister. I promise to keep living fully for YOU.”
Daily Mail further highlighted that KOLD Meteorologist Cory Kowitz shared cherished on-air moments with Orsini on X, praising her leadership and friendship.
Former colleague Ashe Hajek from NewsWatch 12 remembered Orsini’s bold entrance, “dressed head-to-toe in pink,” and her unwavering authenticity.
The station honored Orsini’s memory with a video montage of her most memorable moments, with anchors wearing pink in tribute to their fallen colleague.
Her sudden death has left a void in the newsroom and among viewers who welcomed her into their homes each broadcast.
