Obama’s Joke About Trump Wearing Adult Diapers Backfires as Voters Point Out Ironic Detail
President Barack Obama’s attempt at humor during a campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris has ignited a firestorm of criticism.
Speaking at the University of Pittsburgh on Thursday night, Obama’s comments about his successor, Donald Trump, have drawn sharp rebukes from across the political spectrum.
The 63-year-old Obama, addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, ventured into controversial territory when he broached the subject of diapers.
Recalling his own experiences as a new parent, Obama posed a provocative question to the audience: “Do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”
The crowd’s response was swift and audacious, with one attendee shouting, “His own!”
Obama, seemingly caught off guard, admitted he had considered making a similar remark but ultimately decided against it.
However, the damage was done, and the former president’s quip quickly spread across social media.
Daily Mail reported that critics were quick to point out the insensitivity of the joke, particularly towards individuals who rely on adult diapers for medical reasons.
One social media user expressed dismay, stating, “Sad that a lot of adults do have to wear and change their own diapers. Really sad that Obama would stoop that low.”
Others accused the former president of being out of touch with the concerns of everyday Americans.
“Obama is out of touch with the American people. Their interest is the cost of living,” another user commented, highlighting the disconnect between Democrats’ political rhetoric and pressing economic issues.

The controversy overshadowed Obama’s intended message, which focused on critiquing Trump’s presidency and bolstering support for Harris’s campaign.
Throughout his 45-minute speech, Obama attempted to draw contrasts between the Democratic and Republican visions for the country.
Obama didn’t hold back in his criticism of Trump, targeting everything from Trump’s communication style to his business ventures.
Obama mockingly referred to Trump’s “tweeting in all caps” and “rantings and ravings about crazy conspiracy theories.”
He also took aim at Trump’s recent foray into selling branded products, including a “Trump Bible.”
“Who does that?” Obama asked rhetorically.
“He sells you gold sneakers and a 100,000 watch and most recently a Trump Bible. He wants you to buy the word of God, Donald Trump edition, his name next to Matthew and Luke.”
Despite the controversy, Obama’s appearance was part of a broader strategy to shore up support for Harris in key swing states.
Daily Mail reported that recent polling indicates that Obama remains a popular figure in Pennsylvania, with 55 percent of residents viewing him positively compared to 48 percent for Harris and 50 percent for Trump.
The former president also addressed pressing issues such as immigration and the economy.
He challenged Trump’s record on border security, arguing that the number of immigrants remained “basically the same” at the beginning and end of Trump’s term.
Obama contended that the recent bipartisan border deal, which Trump opposed, would have been more effective in addressing the issue.
