Trump Holds Rally In Butler, Pennsylvania With Elon Musk By His Side
Donald Trump is returning to Butler, Pennsylvania today and will conduct his rally at the exact site where he was almost assassinated on July 13. He is expected to start speaking at 5:00 p.m. EST.
Elon Musk and vice presidential nominee JD Vance will also be accompanying Trump to Butler for a rally that is both significant and solemn for many Butler residents. Trump is expected to honor deceased firefighter Corey Comperatore as well as two others who were injured during the attempted assassination of the former president.
Trump had this to say about his upcoming rally in Butler: “We’re going back. That’s a big deal. We have a lot of people coming. I think I’ll start the speech by saying, “As I was saying…” reports CNN.
Trump will have a large crowd in attendance. CBS News is predicting as many as 60,000 people could attend the rally, which will be held this afternoon.
Comperatore’s family is also attending the rally along with family members of David Dutch and James Copenhaver, the two men who were also injured in the shooting on July 13.
The tens of thousands of people attending the Trump rally will result in chaotic traffic in the vicinity. Butler County DA Richard Goldinger said, per CBS, “It’s going to be difficult travel tomorrow getting here to where you gotta park. Local police will be assisting with the traffic, so be patient,” Goldfinger states. “Follow their orders. Don’t drive in closed lanes or anything like that. We want everybody to be safe,” Goldinger said.
Safety is the main concern for attendees and officials. Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche reassured that Butler Country Emergency Services Agency will be a unified communications bridge between local officials, state officials, and the Secret Service. Law enforcement of all factions are working today’s rally.
To reduce communication delays, a single radio system will be used by state and local police and a single radio system will be used by the Secret Service. To further bolster security, Secret Service agents will be embedded into the state and local police teams surrounding the rally’s location.
Snipers from the July 13 rally have been asked to return as well Goldinger states via CBS News.
Attending the rally is 37-year-old Shane Chesher, a man who sat behind Trump during the shooting.
“It’s been a couple of months but I’m still processing what happened that day. The emotions are all over the place. We’re forever connected to President Trump now,” Chesher said. When asked if he was worried about safety he simply states, “[Trump] said it should be the most secure event. In my heart, I believe it will be the most secure event. I think God’s on our side though.”
Chesher believes he will be sitting behind Trump again during today’s rally. He has faith that there will be “spiritual positivity” all throughout the rally and hopes for no further violence in his town.
Trump will have ballistic glass around him when he takes the stage, an additional measure put in place after the July 13 shooting to ensure the safety and protection of the former president, reports CNN.
