Elon Musk Announces That He Will Be at Trump’s Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania
In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk announced that he will be present at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Friday.
“I will be there to support!” Musk wrote Thursday night in an X post, while responding to a promotion that Trump shared for the event.
Musk first shared his support of Trump after the first failed assassination attempt on Trump on July 13 when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire, attempting to kill the former president on live TV.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” he wrote at the time.
In North Carolina last week, Trump said that he wanted to return to the scene of his first assassination attempt to “finish our speech.”
“As you know, there have been two assassination attempts on my life that we know of… and the first case in Butler, Pennsylvania, great place, and we’re going back to Butler,” he said, per Fox News Digital.
“We’re going to go back and finish our speech.”
In a statement last week, Trump’s campaign said that “President Donald J. Trump will return to Butler, Pennsylvania, to hold a rally on the very same ground where he came within a quarter of an inch of losing his life less than three months ago.”
The campaign also shared that the former president would like to honor the victims of the shooting.
Firefighter and father of two, Corey Comperatore, lost his life at the rally. He “historically sacrificed his life to shield his wife and daughters” during the assassination attempt, the campaign told the outlet.
David Dutch and James Copenhaver will also be honored. Both men were critically injured.
“He will express his deep gratitude to law enforcement and first responders and thank the entire community for their outpouring of love and support in the wake of the attack,” the campaign said.
“And when a shooter attacked our democracy and tried to end this movement, President Trump will return to the site, joined by tens of thousands of proud citizens, and together, they will celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future in an event like the world has never seen before.”
