Elon Musk Wrecks Walz Over Incredibly Bizarre One-Liner During Debate

Elon Musk, Others Eviscerate Walz Over His Bizarre ‘Friends With School Shooters’ Claim During VP Debate

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made a bizarre admission while discussing gun control during last night’s vice presidential debate, declaring he had “become friends with school shooters.”

The statement came during an otherwise civil exchange with Republican candidate J.D. Vance on the topic of school safety.

Walz’s one-liner shocked the internet, prompting many–including X boss Elon Musk–to highlight the “weirdness” of the moment.

In a subsequent post, Musk said, “Mind-blowing that Tim Walz said he was ‘friends with school shooters,’” adding, “He didn’t even get fact-checked lmao.”

As one might have expected, the moment also sparked a massive influx of memes mid-debate.

Jack Posobiec said of Walz’s statement: “Calling it right now but Tim Walz saying he’s ‘friends with school shooters’ will be the #1 thing remembered about this debate.”

“It’s the ‘eating the cats’ of the VP debate.”

Another user posted, “Tim Walz saying he’s friends with school shooters is the first thing I’ve ever believed out of his mouth.”

One said, “Unfortunate slip of the tongue from Tim Walz here.”

The Democratic governor’s shocking statement occurred as he explained his evolving stance on assault weapon bans.

Prior to this admission, Walz had shared a personal story about his 17-year-old son Gus witnessing a shooting at a community volleyball game, prompting an immediate expression of sympathy from Vance.

“I didn’t know your 17-year-old witnessed a shooting. I’m sorry about that. Christ have mercy. That is awful,” the Republican candidate responded, demonstrating a rare moment of bipartisan empathy during the debate.

Walz, defending his shift in position on gun control, referenced his past affiliation with the National Rifle Association.

“Look, the NRA, I was an NRA guy for a long time,” he stated. “They used to teach gun safety. I am of an age where my shotgun was in my car so I could pheasant hunt after football practice.”

The governor’s statement about apparently befriending school shooters drew immediate criticism, including from Andrew Pollack, whose daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting.

Pollack tweeted, “My daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting. It’s absolutely abhorrent that Tim Walz has befriended school shooters. Disqualifying.”

President Trump also weighed in on the debate moment on his Truth Social platform, questioning Walz’s qualifications for higher office.

“He isn’t even qualified to be governor, let alone Vice President. Walz and Kamala do not have what it takes!” Trump declared.

Despite the controversy, both candidates found common ground on the need to enhance school security.

Vance emphasized practical measures, stating, “We have to make the doors lock better. We have to make the doors stronger. We’ve got to make the windows stronger, and of course, we’ve got to increase school resource officers.”

The Republican candidate added, “The idea that we can magically wave a wand and take guns out of the hands of bad guys, it just doesn’t fit with recent experience. So we’ve got to make our schools safer.”
