Rep. Gaetz Named in Court Docs Alleging Attendance at Wild Drug and Sex Party With Minor
MAGA Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has been accused of accompanying a 17-year-old girl to a wild party involving drugs and sex, new court documents reveal.
Three witnesses testified to seeing the 42-year-old at the party, according to legal documents submitted to a Florida federal court just before midnight Thursday, citing the sealed affidavits.
One of the witnesses stated that the minor in question was a high school junior who attended the July 15, 2017 party, which was hosted at the residence of lobbyist and friend of Gaetz Chris Dorworth, Notus reports. She arrived in her mother’s car.
She was allegedly seen naked at the party, which was filled with “alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy” and “marijuana.”
The congressman was mentioned in the documents filed by attorneys seeking to recover legal fees from Dorworth.
Gaetz has consistently denied the allegations, which first emerged when the Justice Department launched an investigation in 2021, according to the Daily Mail.
“The person doesn’t exist. I have not had a relationship with a 17-year-old. That is totally false,” he said at the time during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show.
Before the investigation, former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy raised concerns when he attributed his ousting to “one person… a member of Congress, who wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old.”
The DOJ ended their investigation in February and decided not to prosecute Gaetz, even though Joel Greenberg, a local Florida official and reported Dornwoth associate, alleged that Gaetz paid the minor for sex, The Daily Beast reported.
Previously, the outlet shared Venmo records of Gaetz allegedly sending money to Greenberg while using a nickname for the minor.
Dorworth claimed he “had never met” the minor and said that “she is lying about Matt Gaetz” after Notus reported the affidavits. His claims conflicted with Gaetz’s ex-girlfriend, who testified that the politician attended the party.
Gaetz was also previously investigated by the House in 2021, which was terminated after the DOJ opened its own investigation.
The House ethics investigation was reopened since the congressman was not prosecuted.
The new allegations against Gaetz are a result of a lawsuit that Dornwoth initiated that claimed that he was unfairly brought into his friend’s sex trafficking scandal.
The minor contested Dorworth and accused him of rape when she was named as a defendant in his case. He eventually dropped his lawsuit, but the attorneys involved in the case filed witness affidavit documents to try and collect legal fees.
