‘1,000-Lb Sisters’ Reality Star Arrested and Charged With Drug Possession and Child Endangerment
One of the reality stars of the TLC show “1,000-Lb. Sisters” was apprehended by authorities at a Tennessee zoo on Labor Day, according to police.
Amy Slaton Halterman was charged with drug possession and child endangerment after an employee with the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee called police after a guest was allegedly bitten by a camel.
When deputies from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene Monday, they “were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle,” the sheriff’s department said in a Facebook post.
Slaton’s two children, Gage Deon, age four and Glenn Allen, age two, were also in the vehicle.
Slaton was arrested and charged with possessing Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs illegally, along with two counts of child endangerment, per the New York Post.
The drugs that were allegedly in her possession are unknown.
According to law enforcement, Brian Scott Lovvorn was also in the vehicle at the time. He was also arrested and given the same charges.
The two were booked at the Crockett County Jail, according to the Facebook post.
The identity of the guest who was bitten by the camel has not been released, nor the injuries they sustained as a result.
“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence,” the post added.
“The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.”
Slaton also made headlines in March 2023 when her and her estranged husband, Michael Halterman, went through a bitter divorce.
During the proceedings, Halterman asked the court to issue a civil restraining order requiring both parties to remain at least 500 feet away from each other and from each other’s residences at all times.
After the divorce, Slaton told People that she wanted to focus on her mental health and raising her two young sons.
At the time, she told the outlet that her mental health had been “the worst it’s ever been” and that it was more important that losing weight.
“You can’t have weight loss without mental health,” Slaton admitted.
She also shared that it “was just rough” because the divorce also negatively affected her sons.
Slaton is better known for appearing in TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters,” which debuted in January 2020. The show follow her and her sister, Tammy, on their weight loss journey.
During the first season, Slaton weighed in at over 400 pounds. After she underwent gastric bypass surgery, she lost an additional 136 pounds, bringing her down to 275 pounds.
