Stabbing Suspect Hit With Brutal Question Point Blank

Stabbing Suspect Peppered With Brutal Questions After Being Freed From Jail

A stone-faced 17-year-old charged with fatally stabbing a fellow student walked free from jail Monday after a judge significantly reduced his bond.

This came despite facing a first-degree murder charge in a case that has sparked widespread controversy and fundraising.

Karmelo Anthony remained expressionless as reporters peppered him with questions about the April 2 incident that left 17-year-old Austin Metcalf dead.

Wearing a gray suit jacket and black collared shirt, Anthony maintained a steady gaze forward as he exited Collin County Jail.

He ignored inquiries about why he was armed at school and requests for comments to the victim’s family.

One reporter asked, “Karmelo, why were you armed at school?”

He added, “Explain your self defense. How was this self defence?”

“Do you have anything you’d like to say to the victim? To the family of the victim?” the reporter continued, as seen in a video shared by Fox 4.

The teenager appeared in court Monday facing charges for allegedly stabbing Metcalf in the heart during an interschool track meet.

The judge reduced Anthony’s bail from $1 million to $250,000, which his family posted immediately following the hearing.

This allowed the accused murderer to return home while awaiting trial for the violent confrontation that ended with Metcalf dying in his twin brother’s arms.

Anthony’s case has garnered substantial public attention, with supporters contributing more than $415,000 to an online fundraiser.

The Daily Mail reported that during the court proceedings, prosecutors questioned why these funds weren’t used for the original bond amount.

The family’s attorney, Michael Howard, clarified the purpose of the donations.

“It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money… But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive,” Howard stated during the hearing, explaining that the substantial sum wasn’t designated specifically for securing the teen’s release.

A family spokesperson revealed the funds will help finance Anthony’s legal defense and allow the family to relocate and hire security following what they describe as “graphic and racist threats.”

These allegedly included disturbing images of “black children with knives stuck in their head” after their home address was leaked online, prompting serious safety concerns that have reportedly confined the family to their home.

Court documents state the fatal confrontation began when Metcalf told Anthony he was sitting under another team’s tent and should move.

Resist the Mainstream previously reported that the situation escalated into a physical altercation, with Anthony allegedly warning, “Touch me and see what happens.”

When Metcalf grabbed Anthony, investigators say Anthony pulled out a black knife and delivered a single, fatal stab to Metcalf’s chest before fleeing the scene.

Responding officers arrested Anthony, who reportedly told a school resource officer: “I was protecting myself,” and “He put his hands on me,” immediately claiming self-defense in the deadly incident that unfolded during what should have been a routine high school sporting event.

Anthony’s parents testified that their son is an exemplary student who maintained an A average while serving as captain of both football and track teams at his high school.

They emphasized he had no prior arrests and worked two jobs at Foot Locker and an H-E-B supermarket before the incident, painting the picture of a responsible teenager with no history of violent behavior.

A family spokesperson previously denied allegations that Anthony had been bullied by Metcalf, stating the two students from opposing high schools had never met before the fatal encounter.

Under his bail conditions, Anthony must wear an ankle monitor and remain at his parents’ home unless granted permission to leave by Judge Angela Tucker.

These restrictions will keep him under close supervision while the legal process moves forward in a case that has deeply divided the community.
