FBI Issues Shocking Move Against the ‘Deep State’

FBI Fires Analyst Targeted in Kash Patel’s Book About the ‘Deep State’

In 2023, Kash Patel released his book Government Gangsters, where he exposed a list of “Deep State” figures within the government.

Among those named was Brian Auten, a Russia expert at the FBI, who has now been placed on administrative leave.

The reason for his leave remains unclear, with the FBI refusing to comment on the matter.

Auten was involved in the FBI’s 2017 investigation into alleged ties between President Donald Trump and the Russian government.

While former FBI Director Christopher Wray had recommended disciplinary actions for Auten due to mistakes made in that investigation, the Justice Department’s inspector general found no evidence of political bias in the FBI’s actions.

Patel, however, didn’t hold back in his criticism.

He called out Auten by name in his book, condemning him for his role in the Russia investigation and accusing him of covering up crucial information from Hunter Biden’s laptop, per NBC News.

Patel also expressed frustration that Auten was not fired or prosecuted for his involvement in the RussiaGate scandal, labeling it a national embarrassment.

The FBI has not clarified the exact reason for placing Auten on leave, but Patel’s book has definitely drawn attention to the issue.

While Patel insists that his book is not an “enemies list,” he has consistently criticized the FBI for its politically motivated actions, especially when it comes to undermining conservative figures and their supporters.

Patel’s own background ties him closely to the 2017 investigation.

He worked as a staffer for Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), where he helped draft a memo that accused the FBI of misconduct in obtaining a surveillance warrant for Carter Page, a Trump campaign advisor.

Patel later served on the White House National Security Council, further solidifying his role in the Trump administration’s defense against these politically charged investigations.

The timing of Auten’s leave is significant, as it comes amid a broader effort to hold the FBI accountable for its treatment of conservatives.

Over the past several months, the Trump administration has targeted FBI officials who played roles in prosecuting Trump allies or those involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests.

In January, several senior FBI officials were removed, with their firing linked to their involvement in the January 6 prosecutions.

The shakeup continued in March when the head of the FBI’s New York office was forced out for allegedly encouraging employees to “dig in” after the January firings.

These actions reflect the increasing frustration conservatives feel toward the FBI, especially regarding its handling of politically sensitive investigations and its perceived bias against conservative figures.

While the FBI has not explained why Auten was placed on leave, the move is seen as part of a larger pattern of accountability that conservatives have been calling for.

Patel’s book and the ongoing FBI shakeup show that conservatives are no longer staying silent about the agency’s overreach and potential political bias.
