Trump Torches ‘Fake News’ NBC Star and Network in Explosive Critique

Trump Slams ‘Meet the Press’ Host Kristen Welker After Back-to-Back Interviews, Rips NBC as ‘Fake News’ in Explosive Critique

President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on NBC and its “Meet the Press” host, Kristen Welker, just hours after sitting for two extensive interviews with the network over the weekend.

In a fiery Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump mocked the show’s ratings and criticized its focus on the recent leak of a Signal group chat instead of covering what he called more pressing global issues.

“Kristen Welker’s entire first half hour of the Lowly Rated Meet the Fake Press this morning was devoted to the boring Signal Witch Hunt,” Trump wrote. “She doesn’t want to talk in detail about anything that matters like how well we are doing against the Houthis, substantive Peace Talks with Russia and Ukraine or, Iran, Iran, Iran.”

Trump also turned his ire toward NBC’s leadership, specifically targeting Comcast CEO Brian Roberts. He accused Roberts of being “petrified of the Left” and allowing the network to produce biased coverage against him.

“Why can’t NBC, one of the Worst Broadcasters on Television, hire people that are honest and credible?” Trump said. “Comcast’s MSNBC and NBC have fought me for years, spending almost all of their waking hours making up Fake Stories — and look, I’m PRESIDENT, with really high Poll Numbers and Great Accomplishments.”

“Good job Brian!”

Despite his harsh words, Trump had just completed two separate phone interviews with Welker over the weekend, according to The Washington Examiner. The interviews touched on several key issues, including the recently leaked Signal chat, looming auto tariffs, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s remarks regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and speculation surrounding Trump’s potential third-term ambitions.

Trump and Welker’s contentious history has been well-documented. In December, Trump accused her of having an “obvious left-wing bias” and criticized her for frequently interrupting him during their exchanges.

“It’s amazing. I wish you could be a, you know, you have such potential,” Trump said, according to The Daily Wire.

“If you could be just non-biased. ”

Trump also took aim at the media, particularly in relation to how he was treated during his presidency.

“The press has to straighten itself out, because honestly it’s lost all credibility,” he said. “Based on the press, I should’ve gotten no votes, none.”

“ And yet I got the highest number ever.”

Their interactions have often been tense. During a Sept. 2023 interview about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Welker pressed Trump on his actions that day.

“Tell me how you watched this all unfold. Were you in the dining room watching TV?” she asked, according to Business Insider.

“I’m not going to tell you,” Trump responded. “I’ll tell people later, at an appropriate time.”

When asked if he had contacted military or law enforcement officials when the Capitol was attacked, Trump again refused to provide details.

“I’m not going to tell you anything,” Trump said. “Let me put it this way.”

“I behaved so well. I did such a good job.”

Their relationship has been marked by frequent tension, particularly during the final 2020 presidential debate. Ahead of the event, Trump criticized Welker, calling her “terrible” and “unfair.”

Trump went on to accuse Welker of partisanship, pointing out that her parents had long supported Joe Biden and the Democratic Party.

“I mean, she is totally partisan; her father and mother are big supporters of Joe Biden for a long time. They’re supporters of the Democrat Party, and she deleted her entire account,” he said, referencing her X account, according to Fox News.

Trump further compared her to C-SPAN host Steve Scully, saying, “Kristen Welker is far worse than Scully, but I do it anyway. But this is the way it is.”

He added, “It’s so set up.”
