Well, this one’s a head-scratcher, to put it mildly.
President Trump — the man who blew up the corrupt GOP establishment and launched a political movement rooted in America First — just endorsed one of its slipperiest survivors: Senator Lindsey Graham. That’s right. The same Lindsey Graham who’s spent the last decade flip-flopping harder than a fish on a dock when it comes to Trump, MAGA, and the conservative base. And now, according to Trump on Truth Social, he’s a “wonderful friend” who “will not let you down.”
Really? Has everyone just forgotten the actual Lindsey Graham?
This is the guy who, during the 2016 primaries, couldn’t go five minutes without bashing Trump on CNN. He famously called him a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot” and urged Americans to “tell Donald Trump to go to hell.” He said Trump supporters had lost the “moral authority” to govern. And let’s not forget the time he practically chuckled with joy while calling the GOP “batsh*t crazy” for backing Trump.
But sure, now he’s a “complete and total” ally. Because that’s what Lindsey does. He sticks his finger in the wind, figures out which way the base is blowing, and adjusts his flag accordingly. The man’s a career chameleon — a Beltway shapeshifter. One moment he’s playing golf with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the next he’s jumping in front of a CNN camera to trash the MAGA movement and blame Trump for January 6.
Let’s be clear: Lindsey Graham has been the establishment’s go-to errand boy for decades. He’s a neocon war hawk who’s never met a military conflict he didn’t want to escalate. He cheered on the Iraq War, pushed regime change nonsense in Syria, and helped rubber-stamp bloated defense budgets so defense contractors could keep lining their pockets. On immigration? He’s cozied up to Democrats time and again to push “comprehensive reform” that smells an awful lot like amnesty.
This isn’t a guy who’s fighting for the forgotten men and women of this country. He’s fighting for the same D.C. cocktail circuit that cheered when Trump was impeached.
So, yes, the Trump endorsement is disappointing — maybe even infuriating — to millions of America First conservatives who are tired of being gaslit by fake allies. It’s time to send a message: we’re not playing nice with RINOs anymore.
South Carolina deserves better. America deserves better.
Lindsey Graham? He’s had enough chances.
