His remarks came after Heinrich’s skeptical reporting on Trump’s Tesla event at the White House and her tough questioning of his national security adviser about Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to voice his frustration, calling Heinrich “absolutely terrible” and writing, “She should be working for CNN, not Fox.” His post came after Heinrich questioned whether it was appropriate for Trump to turn the White House South Lawn into a Tesla showroom, displaying five models, including the Cybertruck.
I watched Jacqui Heinrich from Fox over the weekend and I thought she was absolutely terrible. She should be working for CNN, not Fox. Not surprisingly, I later found out that she’s a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!

The Tesla event highlighted American manufacturing, a key pillar of Trump’s economic agenda. Supporters saw it as a celebration of domestic industry, while critics like Heinrich questioned its optics.
She raised concerns during an interview with Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno (R), according to the Daily Mail. She pointed to an open letter from Tesla warning the Trump administration about the potential economic fallout from his proposed tariff policies.
She pressed Moreno, asking, “Was that an appropriate thing for the president to do there?”
Beyond Tesla, Heinrich also challenged Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, citing a European intelligence report that suggested Russia was using negotiations to stall for time. She asked, “How do you know President Trump isn’t being played right now by Putin?”

Trump’s response was swift. In addition to accusing her of bias, he pointed to her ties to the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), a group often viewed skeptically by conservatives.
“Not surprisingly, I later found out that she’s a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!” Trump wrote.
Heinrich, a WHCA board member, is part of an organization that has frequently clashed with Republican administrations over media access and coverage.
Following Trump’s criticism, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume defended Heinrich on social media.
“I watched her too. She plays it straight, covering both sides of a story and has certainly played fair with you,” he wrote
“You may have a case against some White House reporters, but not @JacquiHeinrich.”
This isn’t Heinrich’s first clash with Trump or Fox News figures. She was involved in the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit against Fox, which led to a $787.5 million settlement and contributed to the exit of Tucker Carlson, the Daily Mail notes.
Shortly after the 2020 election, Heinrich fact-checked a Trump tweet that spread allegations about Dominion voting machines.
“There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised,” she wrote at the time.
The outlet highlighted that Carlson was furious, messaging Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, “Please get her fired.”
“Seriously … What the f*? I’m actually shocked.”
“It needs to stop immediately.”
He later told Fox News executives he had “gone crazy” over Heinrich’s tweet. While she deleted it, she soon posted a nearly identical fact-check.
At 36, Heinrich has risen quickly at Fox News, earning a promotion to Senior White House Correspondent in June. She frequently spars with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt over policy and transparency.
Heinrich has also criticized Trump’s decision to exclude wire services like the Associated Press, Bloomberg and Reuters from permanent spots in the White House press pool, arguing that such a move “gives power to the White House, not the people.”
Her role at Fox News remains divided. While some, like Hume, defend her as a fair journalist, others see her fact-checks and WHCA involvement as evidence of bias.
Trump’s critique reflects a broader frustration among conservatives over media coverage, even from Fox News, which was once viewed as his strongest ally.
