WATCH: Jamie Raskin Has Total TV Meltdown, Demands Trump Be Punished for Joke about Elizabeth Warren

During his Tuesday, March 4 speech to a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump spoke about American foreign policy and the warmongering aspect of it, particularly in the Russo-Ukraine War, and hammered Sen. Liz Warren as part of that, leaving her fuming. Appearing on TV in the wake of the incident, Rep. Jamie Raskin freaked out and demanded Trump be censured for his joke.

Trump, for reference, commented on his foreign policy by noting first that he’s trying to reestablish peace in the Middle East, saying, “In the Middle East, we’re bringing back our hostages from Gaza. In my first term, we achieved one of the most groundbreaking peace agreements in generations: the Abraham Accords. And now we’re going to build on that foundation to create a more peaceful and prosperous future for the entire region. A lot of things are happening in the Middle East. People haven’t been talking about that so much lately with everything going on with Ukraine and Russia, but a lot of things are happening in the Middle East. It’s a rough neighborhood, actually.”

He then commented on the war in Ukraine, saying, “I’m also working tirelessly to end the savage conflict in Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainians and Russians have been needlessly killed or wounded in this horrific and brutal conflict with no end in sight. The United States has sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense with no security, with no anything.”

He asked, commenting on his desire to end the bloodshed in the region instead of drawing out the constant death, “Do you want to keep it going for another five years?” At that point, Sen. Warren shouted, “Yes!” Trump, joking at her expense, said, “Yeah. Yeah, you would say — Pocahontas says, ‘Yes.’”

It was about that comment that Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) freaked out when he appeared on Sunday, March 9 on MSNBC’s “Velshi” and declared that President Trump should be censured for his comment about Warren in which he called her “Pocahontas,” a reference to her lie about being of Native American ancestry.

Raskin snapped, “It’s a fair criticism you know, we’ve stayed overwhelmingly unified through this. I think it is a valid critique that we did not have one single strategic plan going into the Donald Trump’s address on that night, whether it was boycott, walkout, sign waving, heckling interruption which is what Marjorie Taylor Greene repeatedly did to Joe Biden.”

He then snapped that it was wrong for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to throw out Al Green for his rude disruption of the event, falsely pinning the blame for that removal on Trump. He snapped, “Of course, Biden dealt with that like a man and just responded to it. Donald Trump couldn’t handle it because he doesn’t have the verbal dexterity to respond, and so they had to have Al Green removed.”

Continuing, he claimed that Rep. Green was making a “valid” and “substantive” point when he stood up and started yelling while shaking his walking cane as Trump tried giving his speech, saying, “Al Green was making a very strong, valid, substantive point, which is there is no mandate to destroy Medicaid. The vast majority of Democrats rejected the idea of censuring him.”

He then snapped that Trump should be censured for his comment at Sen. Warren’s expense, saying, “And really, if we were censuring anybody, it should have been Donald Trump, who I don’t think had been back to our chamber since he incited a violent insurrection against us. And then he used his pulpit in order to call a sitting member of the United States Senate Pocahontas. So I think a racial and ethnic slur from the president was a far greater insult to the dignity and decorum of our chamber.”
