Breaking: X Hit by Major Cyberattack

Elon Musk has announced that his social media platform X has experienced a “massive cyberattack.”

“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” Musk, who is heading the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), wrote on on the platform Monday, per Fox News.

“We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” Musk said. “Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing …”

The attack has left thousands of users worldwide, particularly in the U.S. and the UK, unable to access X.

The first outage was reported around 10 a.m. EST on Monday, according to Tech Radar. While that outage was resolved quickly, the platform experienced another one shortly after.

In total, X experienced at least three separate outages, the outlet reports.

Despite the disruptions, X was reportedly back online around 2 p.m. EST. Certain features still appear to have issues.

X, which has become the popular platform among conservatives, was purchased by Musk in 2022, according to Fox News. By summer 2023, the Tesla owner had completely rebranded the platform, turning it into a safe haven for free speech.

The attack comes as Musk faces criticism from liberals across the nation who have protested the billionaire over his massive government spending cuts under DOGE.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
