Megyn Kelly Rips Trump White House After Bombshell Press Move

Megyn Kelly Rips Trump White House for Taking Over Press Pool

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly has criticized President Donald Trump’s administration for seizing control of the White House Press Pool covering the president’s day-to-day activities.

During a recent episode of her SiriusXM podcast, Kelly said she didn’t know how to feel about the administration’s new policy on the press pool.

“So, I will say for the record, I don’t know how I feel about the White House saying, ‘We’re now going to decide who’s in pool.’ It’s not the same as saying, ‘We’re going to bring in new voices to the press briefing room.’ I love all that,” she said.

“But I actually happen to believe the media should decide who’s in pool, like, because it’s a matter of resources,” she went on.

Kelly argued that it is important for professional journalists to cover the president’s daily activities.

She claimed that journalists should be covering the president instead of White House staff.

“I’m not a knee jerk defender of the press but i’m not a knee jerk defender of the president either and there is an important role for an independent press in this country,” Kelly said.

The former Fox News host stressed the need for “true pros” to be responsible for addressing the president’s activities, the Daily Mail reported.

“Like you can’t f*ck around with that,” she said. “You need true pros who have got a lot of experience, you know, setting up a shot, being ready for breaking news.”

“I speak only from the TV realm because that’s the one I know. I got questions about this before I really endorse it or criticize it,” she added. “But the media is in a full out meltdown over it.”

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced changes to the press pool, noting that the White House would control it to ensure that a wide array of reporters had access to the president.

“We want more voices in the room, not less,” Leavitt said.

“The legacy media will still be there as we said, but there are many other people in this country, across the country who deserve a seat,” she added.

Although Kelly rebuked the mainstream media for their coverage of the president, she expressed concern over the White House controlling the press pool.

“I realize the press has lost its mind, but it’s written right into the Bill of Rights that yeah, a free press is one of our most fundamental values, and I’m not sure I’m comfortable with the White House saying, ‘This is who will cover me. This is who I will allow to cover me at all,’” Kelly said.

Kelly’s guest on her radio show, Buck Sexton, pointed out that the mainstream media is biased toward the president.

In response, Kelly agreed but said the White House’s decision to take over the press pool leads to “dangerous ground.”

“Listen, this White House, they haven’t thrown out all left-wing media. It’s almost still the pools that they want, dominant, left-wing media,” she said. “I’m just saying the principle of it, if we’re going to discuss the principle of it, we’re on dangerous ground here.”

  • Sorry, Megyn, the WCA was NOTHING but a propaganda piece for the legacy media. They NEVER had any LEGAL authority to control the press pool. I’m GLAD Trump did it! NOW we’ll get some HONEST press coverage!

  • Love you, Megan, but if you call yourself a “pro” then act like one. Stop using offensive gutter language (the “f” word) when you communicate.
True pros are expected to have a professional grasp of the language as well as a great sense of who their audience is, and don’t need to use street language to effectively communicate.
