Highest Ranking Social Security Bureaucrat Abruptly Resigns After Elon Musk’s DOGE Uncovers ‘Biggest Fraud in History’
In a stunning development that could expose “the biggest fraud in history,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed shocking data suggesting millions of deceased Americans may still be receiving Social Security benefits, leading to the abrupt resignation of the agency’s acting commissioner and raising serious concerns about taxpayer fund mismanagement.
The controversy erupted after Musk, working alongside President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), shared data showing more than 20 million Americans listed as over age 100 in Social Security Administration (SSA) records, including an astounding 3.9 million supposedly between 130-139 years old.
The revelations prompted the immediate departure of Acting SSA Commissioner Michelle King, a career bureaucrat who had served with the agency since 1994.
Sources indicate King clashed with Musk over DOGE’s attempts to access sensitive government records as part of their comprehensive audit of federal spending.
“What I know is that DOGE wanted access to SSA’s sensitive files — the same way they’re trying to do at Labor and Treasury — and the acting commissioner wouldn’t give it, and she was replaced,” Nancy Altman, president of Social Security Works, told The Washington Post.
The White House has already put forward Frank Bisgnano as permanent commissioner, with his nomination pending Senate confirmation.
The Daily Mail reported that in the interim, Leland Dudek, head of SSA’s anti-fraud division, will serve as acting commissioner, signaling the administration’s commitment to addressing potential fraud within the system.
The data shared by Musk on X painted a remarkable picture of apparent administrative dysfunction. According to SSA records, there are 4.7 million Americans aged 100-109, over 3.5 million aged 140-149, and remarkably, at least one person listed as over 360 years old.
These numbers far exceed any realistic population statistics and suggest widespread systemic failures in record-keeping.
“According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE!” Musk wrote.
“Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security.”
The implications could be staggering for American taxpayers. Daily Mail noted that while 68.5 million Americans legitimately received SSA benefits in 2024, Musk’s analysis suggests the agency has about 60 million more people in its records than the entire U.S. population of 334.9 million, potentially indicating massive fraud or administrative error.
During an Oval Office press availability with President Trump, Musk highlighted the absurdity of the situation.
“Reexamination of Social Security – we’ve got people in there that are 150-years-old,” he noted. “Now do you know anyone who’s 150? I don’t know. They should be in the Guinness Book of World Records. They’re missing out.”
The Social Security investigation is the latest in a series of efficiency measures implemented by DOGE under the Trump administration’s renewed focus on government waste.
The department has already dismantled USAID and removed FEMA’s top finance officials after discovering $59 million in payments to luxury New York City hotels for housing illegal migrants, TTOA previously reported.
The administration’s efficiency drive has also seen 40,000 federal employees accept voluntary buyouts with full pay through September, while billions in federal contracts have been cut, particularly targeting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs that the administration deemed unnecessary.
A shocking 1,039 people are still listed as alive in the SSA database who are between the ages of 220 and 229, according to Musk’s analysis, further highlighting the extent of the potential fraud.
“Yes, there are FAR more ‘eligible’ social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA,” Musk emphasized. “This might be the biggest fraud in history.”
DOGE has vowed to investigate these discrepancies thoroughly, potentially leading to significant reforms in how Social Security benefits are verified and distributed.
