NJ Teacher Under Investigation for Allegedly Threatening Trump
The U.S. Secret Service has launched an investigation into a New Jersey high school teacher accused of making threats against President Donald Trump on social media.
Fred Wilson, a special education and social studies teacher at Egg Harbor Township High School, allegedly posted alarming comments on Facebook, suggesting that discussions about assassination should be considered, per the New York Post.
“I think we are at the moment where assassination is at least a talking point,” Wilson allegedly wrote on Facebook.
The controversial post gained attention after a screenshot of it was shared on the Libs of TikTok account on X, bringing widespread public scrutiny to the matter.
Wilson’s post referred to political violence, which became a particularly sensitive topic following the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on President Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The President was injured but survived the attack.
The Secret Service acknowledged the situation and confirmed they are treating the threat with the utmost seriousness. “The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the incident involving comments made online by a teacher in Egg Harbor Township, NJ,” the agency stated. “All threats against our protectees are taken seriously.”
Wilson’s online activity was not limited to just one alarming comment. Reports indicate that he also expressed strong hostility toward Trump supporters, allegedly writing, “F–k Trump and F–k You for Voting for Him.”
The Egg Harbor Township School District responded swiftly to the controversy. Superintendent Kim Gruccio confirmed that an internal investigation is underway, emphasizing that the district does not tolerate threats or incitements of violence.
Gruccio reassured parents and the community that the school district is fully cooperating with law enforcement officials. “We take comments about and suggestions of violence very seriously,” she wrote in an email statement.
Since the controversy erupted, Wilson has deleted his Facebook account and has not responded to inquiries regarding his comments, per the New York Post.
The district’s investigation aligns with broader concerns over political rhetoric in educational settings. Teachers are expected to uphold professional standards, and any potential advocacy of violence is taken seriously.
This incident follows a tense political climate where President Trump has faced multiple threats and attacks. In addition to the July 2024 incident, he survived another assassination attempt before the November election.
Law enforcement authorities continue to monitor threats against the President and other political figures, given the heightened tensions across the country.
While Wilson’s employment status remains unclear, the district has indicated that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The controversy highlights ongoing concerns about political bias within schools and the role of educators in maintaining a neutral and professional environment for students.
Parents and community members have expressed strong opinions on the issue, with many calling for accountability and a thorough review of the school district’s policies regarding social media conduct for teachers.
As the investigation unfolds, the situation underscores the need for vigilance in addressing online threats and ensuring that educators uphold ethical and professional responsibilities.
