Federal Judge Issues Ruling In Spending Freeze
Well, would you look at that? Another day, another Democrat donor in a robe playing politics from the bench. This time, it’s John J. McConnell, Jr., the chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Rhode Island, who has taken it upon himself to declare war on the Trump administration’s spending freeze. And in a shocking twist that absolutely no one could have predicted, McConnell just happens to be a longtime Democratic megadonor, with a financial trail leading straight to some of the biggest names in the party—Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and Sheldon Whitehouse.
McConnell issued an order Monday demanding that the Trump administration “immediately restore frozen funding” and even suggested that officials who don’t comply could face criminal contempt charges. That’s right—the judge is so outraged that the administration had the audacity to control federal spending that he’s now threatening criminal action.
His justification? A 1975 case that basically says if a judge issues an order, you better follow it, even if that order is later ruled incorrect. So, in other words, do what I say now, or else, regardless of whether the ruling makes any legal or constitutional sense.
Let’s be clear: this entire situation is nothing more than an activist judge trying to run interference for the Democratic Party’s favorite slush funds. McConnell’s ruling directly benefits the nearly two dozen Democratic state attorneys general who sued to block the Trump administration’s pause on federal spending for DEI and gender ideology programs. Why? Because these states are relying on that federal cash to prop up their radical social experiments. Heaven forbid taxpayer dollars actually be spent responsibly instead of funding left-wing pet projects.
This all started when the Trump administration, acting well within its executive authority, issued a directive through the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to put a hold on certain federal payments. The idea was simple: take a step back and review which programs were worth continuing under the administration’s new policies. Naturally, that was too much for Democrats, who rely on never-ending streams of federal money to keep their bureaucratic machines running. So, in classic fashion, they ran to the courts, found a friendly judge, and—surprise!—got exactly the ruling they wanted.
McConnell’s order is textbook judicial overreach. The idea that a federal judge can outright block an administration from reassessing how it spends taxpayer money is absurd. The executive branch has the power to set priorities and make adjustments—it’s literally part of the job. But that’s not how Democrats operate. If they can’t win at the ballot box or pass legislation, they just find a sympathetic judge to legislate from the bench instead.
And let’s not forget the most ridiculous part: McConnell’s claim that freezing federal funds causes “irreparable harm.” Irreparable harm to whom, exactly? The consultants raking in millions from DEI initiatives? The bureaucrats whose entire careers depend on pushing leftist ideology? Somehow, these people managed to survive just fine before the federal government started funding their every whim. The only real harm here is to the Democratic Party’s control over the federal gravy train.
This isn’t about law—it’s about power. McConnell isn’t just a judge; he’s a Democrat activist in a black robe, using his position to do what the party can’t accomplish through legislation. The Trump administration is trying to bring some sanity back to federal spending, and the left is panicking because they know that without government handouts, their entire ideological empire crumbles.
If Trump and his team back down now, this won’t be the last time they see politically motivated judicial activism trying to block their agenda. The administration should push back hard, take this case up the chain, and let the Supreme Court remind McConnell—and every other activist judge—that their job is to interpret the law, not act as an enforcement arm for the Democratic Party.
Too bad they can not be fired from their positions
Hope Trump shuts this judge down .
Doesn’t the president run the judicial brach of our 3 tierd government? Wouldn’t this allow him to make and pass laws in accordance with the Constitution of the United States? And wouldn’t that over rule any opposition that would try to stand in the way?
how can a federal judge be above
the president of the united states ? 🤔
