Cybertruck Bomber’s Horrifying Final Act Mere Moments Before Explosion Outside Trump Vegas Hotel Raises Questions
A decorated Green Beret died in a fiery explosion outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas after driving a Tesla Cybertruck loaded with explosives to the property’s entrance, officials revealed Thursday.
37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, a highly decorated Special Forces veteran with multiple combat deployments, shot himself moments before the electric vehicle detonated, according to Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill.
The explosion occurred approximately 15 seconds after the vehicle stopped at the hotel entrance, per reports.
While authorities await DNA confirmation, investigators identified Livelsberger’s severely burned remains through his tattoos.
Police recovered his passport, credit cards and military identification from the scene, Daily Mail reported.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions following a deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans, where 42-year-old Shamsud-din Jabbar killed 14 people and injured dozens using a rented truck while displaying ISIS imagery.
TTOA highlighted Thursday that both Livelsberger and Jabbar served at the same military installation in North Carolina and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, however, investigators have found no evidence they ever crossed paths or served in the same units.
Daily Mail highlighted that Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, suggested both men were “on a suicide mission” and theorized that Livelsberger was inspired by ISIS.
Law enforcement officials have found no evidence linking Livelsberger to Islamic terrorism, however, unlike Jabbar, who openly declared his allegiance to the terrorist organization.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director Chris Raia emphasized Thursday that investigators have discovered “no definitive link” between the two attacks, per Daily Mail.
The FBI also revised its earlier assessment, now believing Jabbar acted alone in the New Orleans attack.
TTOA outlined Thursday that Livelsberger’s military record reveals a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades.
Since joining the Army in 2006, he earned two Bronze Stars–one with a valor device for courage under fire–along with a combat infantry badge and an Army Commendation Medal with valor. His deployments included two tours in Afghanistan and service in Ukraine, Tajikistan, Georgia and Congo.
The veteran’s uncle, Dean Livelsberger, described his nephew as “100 percent a patriot” and a “Rambo-type” figure.
“He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American. It’s one of the reasons he was in Special Forces for so many years,” he explained in an interview with The Independent.
Seven bystanders sustained minor injuries in Wednesday’s explosion.
Video evidence revealed the truck’s cargo area contained fireworks, mortars, canisters and other explosive devices.
The blast’s upward trajectory left the truck bed walls intact.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has reportedly been very cooperative with authorities, confirmed on X that the explosion resulted from “very large fireworks and/or a bomb” in the rented Cybertruck’s bed, noting that all vehicle telemetry readings were normal at the time of detonation.
Investigators confirmed Livelsberger legally purchased the weapons found in the truck on Dec. 30, 2024, and acquired the vehicle through the car-sharing app Turo.
Daily Mail revealed that his wife, Sara Livelsberger, a social worker, reported having no contact with him for several days before the incident.
