Actress Rips Deadly Trend Plaguing Hollywood

Jameela Jamil Speaks Out Against Hollywood’s Dangerous Weight Loss Trend

Actress and body positivity advocate Jameela Jamil has voiced serious concerns over the increasing popularity of weight loss drugs like Ozempic in Hollywood, dubbing the current phase as the “era of Ozempic heroin chic” in a candid Instagram post.

This alarming trend, she argues, poses detrimental effects on the entertainment industry and the wider societal perceptions of body image.

“The amount of people in my industry just taking it to go from slim to super skinny, to finally achieve the obedient waif physique to fit the obedient sample sizes…. has been hard to watch,” Jamil wrote in her post. “Especially for those of us who have fought off eating disorders. Who are they really doing it for?”

Jamil emphasized the potentially negative influence of these weight loss drugs on younger generations, particularly considering many celebrities are using them to attain extreme body ideals. She raised critical questions about the implications of this trend, urging a reevaluation of what constitutes healthy body image.

The actress cautioned against the cyclical and often unrealistic nature of beauty standards, reminding her followers that trends can change rapidly and urging individuals to not compromise their health for fleeting ideals. She outlined the dangers of societal pressures surrounding body weight, advocating for a more comprehensive dialogue that addresses both under-eating and over-eating.

“I plan on sitting out this cycle. Curves will come back. They always do. Then they will go away again. Then come back,” the actress continued. “I’m not playing with my brain, my heart, my bone density, or my metabolism for a trend. You can’t be left behind in a LOOP.”

“WHAT ARE WE TEACHING THE KIDS?!” Jamil’s post concluded.

On one of her photos, Jamil wrote in a caption: “May I have the strength through this era of Ozempic heroin chic, in my industry to keep up this good work I did on my brain throughout 2025.”

The actress then gave a stark warning over the weight loss craze plaguing the industry: “I would rather leave this industry than get dragged back.”

Last May, the actress opened up about her past struggles with eating disorder.

“I’ve been eating regularly for over five years,” Jamil said, per Page Six, highlighting her progress toward self-acceptance and a healthier relationship with food.

Jamil has been an outspoken critic of celebrities who perpetuate unrealistic body standards, including a pointed critique of cultural figure Kim Kardashian for her role in fostering these toxic narratives.

“Kim, like many of us, has had decades of body image issues and obsession, Jamil wrote in a June 2020 Instagram post. “This has been HEAVILY perpetuated by how much the media scrutinized her and her sisters over their appearances. She isn’t actively trying to harm you. She’s just so harmed and deluded into thinking this is what SHE needs to look like to be special and beautiful and she’s spilling it out onto her following.”

“Is this wrong? YES. But I’m not sure she realizes that she’s doing to others what her idols did to her, in making her think a tiny waist is the key to femininity and sex appeal,” the actress added.
