Ana Kasparian Warns: Kamala Harris Governorship Bid Could Spell Disaster for California
Ana Kasparian, co-host of the progressive online news show “The Young Turks,” has voiced her strong disapproval regarding the potential candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris for the governorship of California. This subject emerged during a recent discussion on the show, wherein Kasparian reacted with visible alarm to the suggestion from her co-host, Cenk Uygur, that Harris could emerge as a strong contender for the position.
Uygur noted that many Democratic voters in California might receive Harris as an “anointed” candidate despite any previous failures or criticisms regarding her political performance, Fox News reported.
“I think Kamala Harris would probably win in a cakewalk for governor,” Uygur said.
In response, Kasparian firmly articulated her opposition, proclaiming, “No! No!”
“I’m telling you the reality, whether you like it or not,” Uygur responded. “Democratic voters in California love to obey.”
Kasparian went on to express grave concerns about Harris’s potential run that she hinted she might even consider leaving her job and relocating if Harris pursued the governorship.
“I’m gonna move, Cenk! I’m gonna quit my job,” Kasparian said. “I’m gonna quit my job, and I’m gonna move.”
Uygur noted he wasn’t in favor of Harris’ gubernatorial run, saying he was simply warning her of a likely outcome.
Criticizing the idea of Harris attempting another political office, Kasparian advised the Vice President to step away from public life and instead pursue options in the private sector or lobbying. She emphasized that California “cannot survive another incompetent Democrat” leading it, underscoring her belief that Harris’s candidacy would not be beneficial.
“This state cannot survive another incompetent Democrat leading it,” Kasparian declared. “No, we just can’t.”
“So, like, people are egging her on, OK? Apparently she’s, like, in a wait-and-see mode,” Kasparian continued.
The Young Turks host then looked into the camera and directly addressed Harris.
“How about you wait and see, like, your way out of public life? And go do what you’re supposed to do. Go work in the private sector. Go do the lobbying thing — whatever it is. But don’t run as governor of California. Do not!” Kasparian said.
The discourse around Harris’s political future gained further traction when Lindy Li, co-chair for the Democratic National Committee‘s women’s caucus, ridiculed the possibility of a Harris comeback and criticized the Democratic Party for fostering unrealistic expectations regarding her future.
