Elon Musk Delivers Savage Five-Word Response Over Budget Bill Showdown

Elon Musk Accuses Democrats of ‘Lying’ Over Claims He and Republicans Cut Funding for Pediatric Cancer Research

Elon Musk has accused Democrats of “lying again” after they alleged that Republicans were responsible for blocking a bill aimed at funding research for pediatric cancer.

Musk’s comments came in an X post on Friday, following the backlash from Democrats regarding the bill, which is intended to advance cancer research for children.

“The Democrats are lying again,” Musk wrote, responding to accusations that the bill’s progress was stalled by Republican opposition.

The bill in question is the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act, which aims to allocate funds for child cancer research. It was introduced as a stand-alone bill and passed by the Republican-controlled House in March. However, the bill has been delayed in the Democratic-controlled Senate, according to Congress.gov.

The program was named after Gabriella Miller, a 10-year-old Virginia girl who died in 2013 from a rare pediatric brain cancer. Gabriella’s family became strong advocates for funding pediatric cancer research in her memory, leading to the introduction of this bill, according to WSET.

While the House passed the bill earlier this year, the Senate has stalled it largely due to political disagreements. Democrats are pushing to have the bill included in a broader spending package, arguing that it should be part of a larger conversation on government funding. In contrast, Republicans argue that it should remain a stand-alone measure.

Despite these political disagreements, Democrats have continued to blame Republicans for the bill’s stalled progress. Some have even shifted their focus to Musk, accusing the billionaire of playing a role in preventing the bill’s passage. Several mainstream media outlets have joined in the criticism, with accusations that Musk cares more about helping the wealthy than funding medical research for children.

The Bulwark published an article titled “Elon Killed the Budget Deal. Cancer Research for Kids Was Collateral Damage,” which claimed that Musk had influenced the revised spending bill by stripping provisions that would fund cancer treatment for children with relapsed cancer. The outlet accused Musk of denying $190 million to the cause.

MSNBC echoed a similar narrative in its article titled, “Under GOP bill, funding for pediatric cancer research was cast aside,” claiming that “Republicans took out their editing pens” and removed the program.

In response, many social media users rallied behind Musk, agreeing with his criticism of the Democratic leadership and questioning the motives of the Democrats in holding up the bill. One user posted a comment that encapsulated much of the online sentiment: “Why is this bill being held up? Why is this political issue now holding up cancer research for children?”

Other X users emphasized the importance of Americans doing their own research instead of simply following the mainstream media’s narrative.

Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have expressed frustration, with Jeffries accusing Republicans of prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires over funding for critical medical research.

“Republicans would rather cut taxes for billionaire donors than fund research for children with cancer. That is why our country is on the brink of a government shutdown,” he wrote on Bluesky.
