Kamala Harris & Joe Biden Suddenly Change Plans, Rush to White House — What Is Going On?

Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris just abruptly changed their plans and made speedy returns to the White House.

Kamala Harris was supposed to fly out to California tonight for a weekend trip, but suddenly canceled the flight and went back to Washington.

Joe Biden also swiftly returned to the White House from his stay in Delaware.

Reportedly, Biden’s original plans were to stay in Delaware for Christmas.

This is causing a lot of speculation on social media about what prompted their sudden returns.

Does it have to do with the looming government shutdown over a budget crisis?

Or is something else going on?

Here’s what people are saying on X:

The Blaze reported:

Vice President Kamala Harris canceled a scheduled trip to Los Angeles, California, leading many to speculate that the ongoing budget crisis forced her to stay in Washington, D.C.

Republicans are warring against each other over a budget deal reached between Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democrats in an attempt to stave off a government shutdown. Critics of the bill lambasted Johnson for trying to pass a massive bill at the last minute without giving members of Congress time to properly review the resolution.

On Thursday, Harris’ office said she was canceling a trip to L.A. planned to begin that day and lasting until Monday. No reason was given for the cancelation, and she has not provided any details about her trip. Harris owns a home in Brentwood.

MyNewsLA also confirmed:

Vice President Kamala Harris canceled plans to fly to Los Angeles Thursday evening.

Harris had been scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the White House. But around midday Thursday, her office announced that she “will not travel to Los Angeles, CA, and will remain in Washington, D.C.”

No reason was given for the cancellation. It was unclear if it was related to the possibility of a government shutdown due to congressional disagreement on a spending measure.

If this does turn out to be because of the budget crisis, then Congress has until the end of Friday to pass a spending deal if they want to avert a government shutdown.

And, many Congress members like Rep. Thomas Massie have made it clear that they want clear, 1-2 page bills for each individual item they want passed…(which is totally reasonable — enough with these hundreds or thousands of pages that bundle everything together and sneak in crap like funding a gay senior home! And yes, that was one of the items in the previous pork spending bill that got killed!)

But, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris may need to hang around in Washington in case they are needed for a tiebreaker vote, if it comes to that.

We’ll keep you updated on any further developments…
