Update: Shooter Identified as Mass Shooting at Christian School Leaves Multiple Dead, Several Injured: Report
Update: Police have confirmed that the shooter was a 15-year-old female student at Abundant Life Christian School.
Her name is Natalie Lynn Rupnow, according to journalist Andy Ngo, who also revealed that her manifesto was posted on the platform Discord. Ngo reported that Rupnow stated in a rant that she wanted to kill “all males,” a sentiment he linked to being influenced by “fringe extremist online culture.”
More disturbingly, Rupnow had an account on “Watch People Die,” where she posted comments. Ngo also revealed that her Cash App profile photo featured the Columbine shooters and that her Spotify playlists revolved around themes including killings and suicide.
The Madison Police Department has confirmed that one student and one teacher were killed in the shooting.
“Shooting update: At this time, three people are deceased,” the post said, according to 15 WMTV. “During the media briefing earlier this afternoon, it was erroneously shared 5 were deceased. Again, three people are deceased. Nine in total were injured, including the three deceased.”
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes reported that a handgun was recovered during the investigation, according to NBC News. He confirmed that the shooting was confined to one area but did not specify whether it occurred in a classroom or hallway.
