Swatting Call on MTG Ends in Heartbreaking Tragedy

Swatting Call Targeting MTG Results in Fatal Car Accident

A tragic series of events unfolded after a swatting call targeted the home of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), resulting in the death of an innocent woman in a traffic accident involving law enforcement.

Greene took to social media on Monday to share that her residence was subjected to a bomb threat, conveyed through an email received by the Rome Police Department’s assistant chief. The bomb squad was immediately dispatched to her home in response to the threat.

“Last night, my home was swatted again, this time with a bomb threat sent via email to the Rome Police Department,” Greene wrote in a post on X. She described the incident as part of a disturbing pattern of politically motivated harassment.

However, tragedy struck during the police response. The Rome Police Department reported that a fatal traffic accident occurred involving one of its officers en route to assist the bomb squad.

“On Monday, December 9, a Rome Police Department officer was traveling in a personal vehicle en route to take his place with the Bomb Squad on a call,” the department’s report noted, as cited by Fox News.

“This officer was involved in a traffic accident on Redmond Rd near Walmart, which has created significant travel delays around the Norfolk Southern Railroad Tracks.”

The crash claimed the life of Tammie Pickelsimer, an innocent bystander, and left the responding officer injured. Greene expressed her devastation in a subsequent post, calling the swatting incident a “despicable act” with dire consequences.

“I’m heartsick right now,” Greene wrote. “I was just informed that an innocent woman died today in an auto accident involving a member of the Rome Police bomb squad who was responding to the threat at my home. My prayers are with Tammie Pickelsimer, her family, the officer who was injured, and the entire Rome Police Department.”

The congresswoman condemned swatting as a form of political violence with potentially deadly outcomes.

“These violent political threats have fatal consequences,” she warned, adding that law enforcement must take all threats seriously, no matter how disruptive. She further stated that the individual responsible for the hoax “committed murder.”

Investigators traced the email containing the bomb threat to a Russian IP address, Greene revealed. The threat included a message expressing pro-Palestinian sentiments. Greene noted that this was the latest in a series of swatting incidents targeting her, with at least nine such calls since she took office.

“I’m sick to my stomach, but I’m also angry,” she wrote. “This should have never happened, and I pray it never happens again.”

The Rome Police Department continues to investigate the crash while also working to identify the perpetrator of the swatting call.

Greene is one of many politicians who have been targeted by swatting calls. Less than a month ago, several of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees were victims of this dangerous hoax, including then Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz and Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth.
