MSNBC Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have been two of the most outspoken critics of Donald Trump. Indeed, the two of them have spent much of the past decade having anti-Trump meltdowns every morning.
Heading into Election Day earlier this month, Scarborough and Brzezinski were confident that their beloved Kamala Harris would defeat Trump. Unfortunately for them, they got the shock of their lives when Trump trounced Harris not only in the Electoral College, but also in the popular vote.
Trump’s win was so decisive that it appears that it has caused Scarborough and Brzezinski to make some major changes. On Monday morning, they shocked their liberal viewers by revealing that they met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Friday. This was their first meeting with him in seven years.
From The New York Post:
“Five years of political warfare has deeply divided Washington and the country. We have been as clear as we know how in expressing our deep concerns about President Trump’s actions and words in the coarsening of public debate,” said Brzezinski, 57, as she opened Monday’s show with the stunning revelation.“But for nearly 80 million Americans, election denialism, public trials, January 6th were not as important as the issues that moved them to send Donald Trump back to the White House with their vote. Joe and I realize it’s time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him.”
Scarborough, 61, said the trio talked about issues including “abortion, mass deportation and threats of political retribution against political opponents and media outlets. We talked about that a good bit.”
The duo appeared to be eager to let their leftwing fans know that this does not mean that they’ve become Trump supporters.
“It will come as no surprise to anybody who watches this show, has watched it over the past year or over the past decade, that we didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of issues and we told him so,” Brzezinski stated. “What we did agree on was to restart communications.”
She concluded by acknowledging that Trump “was cheerful and upbeat” during the private meeting — and that “he seemed interested in finding common ground with Democrats on some of the most divisive issues.”
Well, it appears that Hell has frozen over, folks. Indeed, nobody could have seen this one coming!
Have Scarborough And Brzezinski Finally Woken Up?
Perhaps Trump winning in such an epic fashion finally woke Scarborough and Brzezinski up to the fact that they will soon lose all relevance if they continue to be against him so vehemently. His win showed that the American people simply have not bought into the mainstream media’s narrative that Trump is a monster who will destroy us all.
If Scarborough and Brzezinski want to stay relevant in the world of media, they need to start being more fair when it comes to reporting on Trump.
As for Trump himself, he opened up about the meeting in an interview with Fox News. He claimed that Scarborough and Brzezinski “congratulated me on running a ‘great and flawless campaign, one for the history books,’ which I really believe it was, but it was also a campaign where I worked long and hard — perhaps longer and harder than any presidential candidate in history.”
Trump went on to say that though he feels “an obligation to the American public, and to our country itself, to be open and available to the press,” he made sure to add that “If not treated fairly, however, that will end.”
Sadly, it’s likely that Trump will not be “treated fairly” by the media. However, it’s still deliciously satisfying to see blatant Never Trumpers like Scarborough and Brzezinski have to go to him with their tails between their legs. We can only hope that more members of the media end up doing the same!
