Elon Musk Calls Matt Gaetz the ‘Judge Dredd America Needs’
Elon Musk publicly expressed his support for Matt Gaetz, President-elect Trump’s nominee for attorney general (AG), praising him as the “Judge Dredd America needs.”
In an X post early Tuesday morning, the billionaire praised Gaetz, highlighting three qualities he believed made him ideal for the role. He even compared Gaetz to Judge Dredd, the iconic 1970s comic book character from 2000 AD known for enforcing “law and order” in the crime-ridden dystopia of Mega-City One.
“Matt Gaetz has 3 critical assets that are needed for the AG role: a big brain, a spine of steel and an axe to grind,” he wrote. “He is the Judge Dredd America needs to clean up a corrupt system and put powerful bad actors in prison. Gaetz will be our Hammer of Justice.”
Musk’s praise of Gaetz comes as the former Florida representative faces controversy over a House Ethics Committee report that alleges that he had sexual contact with a minor during his term. Several politicians on both sides have criticized his nomination over the allegations.
Addressing the controversy, the Tesla owner said that he takes the allegations with a grain of salt.
“As for these accusations against him, I consider them worth less than nothing. Under our laws, a man is considered innocent until proven guilty,” he wrote.
“If AG Garland (an unprincipled douchebag) could have secured a conviction against Gaetz, he would have, but he knew he could not. Case closed.”
Musk, who was also appointed to co-lead the new Department of Government Efficiency, has not been alone in his support for Gaetz.
Making a public statement, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) also announced his support for Gaetz to serve as the next AG, calling him “one of the most intelligent members of Congress,” as Resist the Mainstream previously reported.
While several members of the House have asked Johnson to have the report on Gaetz publicly released, Johnson declined on Friday, stating that it would deviate from standard procedures and “would be a terrible precedent to set.”
Gaetz has consistently denied the allegations against him, claiming they were fabricated in an attempt to damage his reputation. The accusations stem from a reported incident in 2021, in which he was alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
Gaetz is not the only individual nominated by Trump to face sexual allegations.
Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2017. As the allegations resurfaced following his nomination, Hegseth’s lawyer, Tim Parlatore, responded by claiming that the alleged victim “was the aggressor,” asserting the innocence of the Fox News journalist.
