Hollywood Meets MAGA: Trump Warns RFK Jr ‘Don’t Get Too Popular’ After Health Chief Appointment as Sylvester Stallone Dubs President-Elect ‘Second George Washington’
In a dramatic evening at Mar-a-Lago that drew Hollywood star power and political heavyweights, President-elect Donald Trump unveiled his choice of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services while floating an unprecedented proposal to begin his presidency ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the America First Policy Conference Thursday night, Trump addressed a gathering that included actor Sylvester Stallone, tech mogul Elon Musk and various conservative luminaries.
The president-elect delivered what he called a playful warning to his newly appointed health secretary: “Don’t get too popular, Bobby.”
“You know, you’ve reached about the level,” Trump continued. “We want you to come up with things and ideas and what you’ve been talking about for a long time, and I think you’re going to do some unbelievable things.”
“Nobody’s going to be able to do it like you, and boy does he feel it in his heart.”
Stallone himself made headlines for his impassioned speech while introducing Trump; one that dubbed the president-elect “the second George Washington.”
“We are in the presence of a really mythical character…Nobody in the world could have pulled off what he pulled off, so I’m in awe,” Stallone said during another part of his speech.
The selection of Kennedy, a former Democrat and vocal critic of pharmaceutical companies, marks a significant shift in potential healthcare policy.
Kennedy immediately pledged to “Make America Healthy Again” and promised to tackle chronic disease while addressing what he sees as corruption in the health sector.
Daily Mail reported that Trump celebrated recent political victories, particularly emphasizing his win in the popular vote.
“We won the popular vote by records,” Trump declared to the assembled crowd. “No one can say that anymore about us.”
In an unprecedented move, Trump suggested House Speaker Mike Johnson should consider legislation to retroactively start his presidential term from November 5, citing soaring market performance.
“Things are happening to our country that we didn’t see happening for years,” Trump stated.
“Almost every single day we set new records in the stock market,” he added. “…The market’s gone through the roof, enthusiasm has doubled.”
The gala featured additional cabinet announcements, including South Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s nomination to lead the Department of Interior.
Burgum, 68, a wealthy former software executive, had previously competed against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination before becoming a loyal supporter.
The event drew an influential crowd, including Tucker Carlson, Kellyanne Conway and Argentine President Javier Milei, whom Trump praised as a “MAGA guy.”
Daily Mail highlighted that Milei, the first foreign leader to meet with Trump post-election, delivered remarks criticizing left-wing ideologies and praising Musk’s social media platform X.
The appointments of Kennedy and recently nominated Attorney General Matt Gaetz represent significant shifts in the incoming administration’s direction.
Gaetz’s nomination came just days before the Mar-a-Lago event, prompting mixed reactions from Republican senators.
