Daughter of CCP Official Who Tim Walz Had Secret Fling With in 1980s Says he ‘Made me Feel Cheap’
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the vice-presidential nominee of Kamala Harris, is facing scrutiny over a controversial past romance with Jenna Wang, the daughter of a former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official. This relationship, which reportedly occurred in 1989 while Walz was teaching in Foshan, China, has raised questions about Walz’s character and integrity just as he embarks on a crucial political campaign.
Jenna Wang claims that the relationship was intense and deeply emotional, leading her to believe that they would eventually marry. However, she asserts that Walz failed to honor this expectation, leaving her feeling misled and humiliated. According to Wang, their bond was marked by shared moments that felt akin to a marriage, yet it ended without any commitment from Walz. The lack of a formal proposal reportedly caused Wang significant emotional distress, affecting her mental well-being.
Some US figures have expressed concerns about the relationship, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R), who posted on X: “If the story today in @DailyMail is true Tim Walz had a relationship with the daughter of a high ranking Chinese Communist Party official and remained in contact with her for years after” and that “If you aspire to be Vice-President of the United States, voters deserve to know everything about any and every link you have to the CCP.”
In her account, Wang recalls feeling publicly shamed and believes Walz’s actions were manipulative, undermining her sense of worth. Following their breakup, she alleged that Walz suggested she may have been primarily interested in a visa to the United States, a remark she interpreted as deeply disrespectful. Feeling compelled to leave China, Wang eventually moved to Italy, where she sought a fresh start away from the painful memories of the past.
Wang’s father, Bin Hui, was a respected labor union leader within the CCP, and she expressed concerns about how their relationship may have been perceived within the political context of China. Wang has issued an open letter to American voters, urging them to reconsider Walz’s suitability for public office based on her experiences, emphasizing a perceived lack of integrity that she believes should disqualify him from political leadership.
As Walz navigates the complexities of his current campaign, he stands alongside Harris in what many view as a critical election year for the Democratic Party. The resurfacing of these allegations adds an additional layer of scrutiny to Walz’s candidacy, with voters taking a closer look at his past and its implications for his integrity as a public servant.
The Harris-Walz campaign has yet to issue any public statements on the matter at the time of this article’s publishing.
