Harris Entangled in ‘Deceptive’ Scandal as Trump Camp Demands Answers

CBS Caught ‘Deceptively’ Airing Two Different Answers From Harris to Same Question as Trump Camp Seeks Response

CBS has found itself at the center of a media storm after airing two distinct responses from Vice President Kamala Harris to the same question in its “60 Minutes” interview

The discrepancy, which came to light when comparing Sunday’s “Face the Nation” preview with Monday’s primetime special, has raised eyebrows and prompted calls for transparency.

The Trump campaign swiftly capitalized on the controversy, demanding that CBS release the full, unedited transcript of the interview.

Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused the network of “deceptively” editing Harris’s response to “lessen Kamala’s idiotic response.”

“The American people deserve the full, unedited transcript from Kamala’s sit-down interview. We call upon 60 Minutes and CBS to release it. What do they, and Kamala, have to hide?” Leavitt challenged, as reported by Fox News.

The controversy began when Bill Whitaker questioned Harris about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s apparent reluctance to heed U.S. advice.

On Sunday’s “Face the Nation,” viewers witnessed a lengthy response from the vice president, which quickly became fodder for conservative critics who labeled it a “word salad.”

“Well Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region,” Harris said in the Sunday broadcast.

However, when the full interview aired on Monday’s “60 Minutes,” audiences were presented with a markedly different, more concise answer to the same question.

“We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end,” Harris stated in the primetime version.

The stark contrast between these two responses has ignited a debate about journalistic integrity and editorial decisions in high-profile political interviews.

“This is—or should be—a huge journalistic scandal,” said one X user.

While it’s not uncommon for interviews to undergo editing for time constraints, the complete replacement of one answer with another has raised concerns about potential manipulation of public perception.

CBS News has yet to provide an official explanation for the discrepancy.

Both versions of Harris’s response have been made available on the network’s YouTube channel, allowing viewers to compare the two clips side-by-side.

The incident has not gone unnoticed by political opponents and this stealth editing comes at a time when media credibility is under intense scrutiny.

“60 Minutes has now EDITED their interview with Kamala Harris – remove her word salad stumble when discussing Israel’s war in Gaza,” Conservative Brief posted on X.

“Now everyone can see why Donald Trump refused to do an interview with them!”

Fox reported that the vice president’s office has not yet commented on the differing responses or the calls for the release of the full interview transcript.
