Breaking: Gunshots Fired Near Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida
In another scare, gunshots were reportedly heard near former President Donald Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The former president appears to be unharmed in the incident.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” Trump campaign spokesman said in a statement.
Trump was playing golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach when the gunshots were heard.
The former president has been taken to safety and was put in a protective room by the Secret Service, the New York Post reported.
The shooter has been arrested by local police on I-95.
The shooting comes two months after Trump was nearly killed by crazed gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks while speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The gunman’s bullet pierced Trump’s upper right ear.
Nonetheless, the president pulled through and has continued holding outdoor campaign rallies.
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) took to X to comment on the recent incident in West Palm Beach, saying the former president is one of the “strongest” people he knows.
“Just spoke with President Trump. He is one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. He’s in good spirits and he is more resolved than ever to save our country,” Graham wrote.
Conservative commentator Nick Sortor has revealed several key details of the shooting in Palm Beach.
Sortor indicated that the Secret Service is currently “investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m.”
The shooting reportedly occurred as the former president was leaving the golf course.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., said an AK-47 was later discovered in the bushes. However, this claim is unconfirmed.
“Two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The shooters were targeting each other, and the gunfire was not targeting Trump, the sources said. Sources [also] said that Trump was never in danger and that the shooting happened in an area outside the club that is known for high crime,” the Post reported.
As aforementioned, the shooting comes just two months before the former president nearly lost his life because of a would-be assassin.
On July 13, Crooks fired multiple shots at Trump from on top of a building that was over 130 yards away from the podium from where the former president was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The tragic assassination attempt on the former president’s life led Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign.
“In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that, I have made the difficult decision to step down as your Director,” Cheatle said in her resignation letter while acknowledging that the agency “fell short” of its mission “to protect our nation’s leaders” on July 13, per CNN.
As of today, Secret Service Depuy Director Ronald Rowe is currently the head of the agency.
Now, the Secret Service faces another dilemma involving the former president.
Additional details will follow.
