Trump Suggests Putin Endorsed Kamala Harris to Hurt Her Electoral Chances
Former President Donald Trump has reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris, arguing that the Kremlin leader is supporting the vice president to hurt her chances of becoming president.
While speaking in Wisconsin on Saturday, Trump commented on Putin’s endorsement of Harris.
On Thursday, the Russian President spoke at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, where he revealed that he is supporting Harris since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, as TTOA previously reported.
Putin also praised Harris’s laugh, calling it “contagious.”
“She laughs so contagiously that it shows that everything is fine with her,” the Russian president said.
Putin said Biden was “our favorite, if you can call it that.”
On Saturday, Trump said he was “offended” By Putin’s decision, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
“[Putin] endorsed Kamala,” Trump said.
“I was very offended by that. I wonder why he endorsed Kamala,” he added.
Trump then contemplated whether Putin’s endorsement of Harris was done strategically to hurt her electoral chances in November.
The former president called Putin a “chess player,” suggesting his endorsement may have a more sinister meaning behind it.
“No, he’s a chess player. Congressman, should I be upset about that? Was it done with a smile, Ron [Johnson]?” Trump asked.
Trump then argued that no other administration, other than his, has been tougher on Russia.
The former president said the Russia-Ukraine war would end if he won the presidency in November.
While speaking at the forum on Thursday, Putin pointed out that Trump enacted “so many restrictions and sanctions against Russia like no other president has ever introduced before him.”
“And if everything is fine with Ms. Harris, then maybe she will refrain from such actions of this kind,” Putin said, as CBS News reported.
Notably, in 2015, Putin called Trump a “bright and talented person.” At the time, Trump had just stepped foot into the political arena as a Republican presidential hopeful.
During his rally in Wisconsin, Trump tore into Harris, accusing her of covering up Biden’s mental health decline for years.
The former president said that if he is elected, he would modify the 25th amendment to allow vice presidents who cover up a president’s cognitive decline to face impeachment.
“I will support modifying the 25th Amendment to make it clear that if a VP lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the incapacity of the president, it’s grounds for impeachment immediately,” Trump said. “And removal from office.”
During his rally, Trump also suggested moving the issue of education back to the states, saying he would put Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson (R) in charge of education in The Badger State.
“We’ll send it back to the states so that Ron Johnson can run it,” Trump said. “OK, we’ll send it back here. Mr. [Tom] Tiffany, we’ll get our congressman Tiffany involved.”
Trump also some insight as to why he chose Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R) as his running mate.
“You know, I picked the best athlete,” he said. “I could have picked anyone, they would have been great. But JD had an incredible life.”
